Bangladesh’s BRAC Bank has gone live with Finastra’s Trade Innovation and Corporate Channels, alongside Conpend’s Trade AI solutions. The deployment brings fragmented trade finance processes into a connected digital environment for bank teams and corporate customers.

According to Finastra’s announcement, the implementation supports greater straight-through processing—allowing more transactions to progress without manual intervention—and improves visibility across the trade finance lifecycle.

One Channel for Corporate Trade Transactions

For corporate customers, the change means a single channel to submit requests, collaborate securely, approve transactions and monitor progress in real time. The objective is to improve service without weakening governance or oversight.

The platform combines three priorities:

  • Connected operations: More streamlined processing across trade finance workflows.

  • Standards readiness: Support for evolving requirements, including ISO 20022 and Swift SR2026.

  • Room to expand: Open, scalable architecture designed to accommodate higher transaction volumes and additional capabilities.

BRAC Bank CEO Tareq Refat Ullah Khan described the implementation as a milestone in improving transparency, control and service reliability. The announcement does not disclose processing-time reductions or quantified cost savings.

Digital Trade Is an Operating Model, Not Just a Portal

The significance goes beyond giving customers a new interface. Connecting customer requests with internal processing is intended to reduce the fragmentation behind the screen. A polished portal is useful; a request that still needs chasing through several departments is less impressive.

Conpend’s Trade AI forms part of the deployment, although the announcement does not detail its specific functions or performance results.

An Acquisition Lens: Follow the Transaction

For businesses considering a banking-sector acquisition through N5Deal, this deployment highlights a concrete due-diligence question: how does a corporate trade request move from submission to completion?

Customer access, approval controls, messaging readiness and system dependencies deserve examination together. A digital front end alone does not establish that the underlying operation can scale.

BRAC Bank’s approach puts that connection at the centre of modernization: customer visibility and back-office capability need to develop together.
