LHV Bank has relocated to larger premises at Wellington Place in Leeds, reinforcing its presence in a commercial district known as the ‘Northern Square Mile.’ The move supports the digital-first bank’s ongoing regional expansion and technology recruitment strategy.
Wellington Place has become a major hub for financial and professional services, housing firms such as Lloyds Banking Group, Rathbones, and Equifax. LHV Bank’s decision to stay and expand within Leeds highlights the city’s status as one of the UK’s primary regional fintech centres, bolstered by the presence of the Financial Conduct Authority’s northern base and FinTech North headquarters.
Key drivers behind LHV Bank’s expansion include:
Talent acquisition: Access to technical, data, and financial expertise from the local workforce and regional universities.
Fintech cluster: West Yorkshire hosts more than 100 fintech companies, identified in the Kalifa Review as one of the UK's top four fintech hubs.
Regional growth: Leeds was recently named among LinkedIn’s top regional cities for employment growth, particularly across legal and financial technology sectors.
Sustainability: The new base at Wellington Place provides sustainable office infrastructure to accommodate long-term team growth alongside existing hubs in London and Manchester.
Interim CEO Kris Brewster noted that expanding in Leeds gives the bank the technical foundation and local talent pipeline needed to scale its digital services. The relocation positions LHV Bank to build deeper ties within the regional ecosystem as it expands operations across the UK.
