Mambu Launches Intelligent Core to Bring Agentic AI into Core Banking
3 min read

Mambu has launched Intelligent Core, a new technology architecture that combines core banking, payments, and agentic AI within one open, composable platform. The initiative is designed to help financial institutions connect AI capabilities directly to banking operations rather than layering them on top of legacy systems.

At the centre of the launch is Mambu Agentic, a native intelligence layer that connects AI tools and autonomous workflows to Mambu Core and Mambu Payments. The company says the approach can help institutions automate high-volume operational work, access real-time information, and deliver more personalised services while maintaining control over how AI acts.

The Intelligent Core includes three main capability layers:

  • Model Context Protocol (MCP): Connects enterprise AI agents to core banking and payment data without complex integrations.

  • AI Insights: Provides a curated data layer designed to support reliable AI reasoning and identify growth opportunities, risks, and anomalies.

  • Agents: Pre-built action agents that can gather data, operate within configurable guardrails, follow approval thresholds, and explain their actions.

Mambu says the architecture gives banks a unified way to manage deposits, lending, payments, Islamic banking, and AI-enabled automation. Rather than replacing existing processes at once, institutions can assemble and expand components based on their operational needs and transformation priorities.

Fernando Zandona, CEO of Mambu, said the company’s composable banking foundation is now evolving into an intelligent platform where AI agents can connect directly to the ledger, act within authorised limits, and provide an auditable explanation for each decision.

Mambu was founded in 2011 and states that more than 260 customers across over 65 countries use its platform, including banks, lenders, fintechs, retailers, and other financial institutions.
