Interswitch Group has partnered with Temenos to strengthen its digital banking capabilities and expand access to modern financial services across Africa.
Under the collaboration, Interswitch will deploy Temenos solutions across core banking, digital banking, payments, wealth management, and financial crime. The company will use the technology to deliver both cloud-hosted and on-premises managed services to banks and financial institutions across key African markets, including Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Kenya.
The partnership is designed to help financial institutions modernize their banking platforms in phases, while moving toward more customer-focused business models. It also supports Interswitch’s broader strategy of expanding beyond payments into a wider digital banking infrastructure role.
Interswitch said Temenos’ cloud-native and composable platform gives it the flexibility and scalability needed for its next stage of growth. Temenos, meanwhile, said the deal strengthens its footprint in Africa and extends its ecosystem through one of the continent’s most established fintech players.
Known for brands such as Quickteller and Verve, Interswitch operates in 32 African countries and supports more than 300 financial institutions. Verve recently surpassed 100 million payment cards issued, underlining the group’s scale in digital payments and financial services.
The partnership reflects a wider trend across Africa, where financial institutions are increasingly investing in modern banking infrastructure to improve service delivery, scalability, and digital access.
